What’s In It For You?
What’s in it for you?
Why should I schedule a session? What will I get out of having a 1-on-1 video or phone call?
A very clear roadmap in breaking into Hollywood Editing while accommodating to your current situation. I want to prove to you that you can make it in this industry regardless of all of the excuses or hesitations of taking the first step (i.e having zero contacts, too competitive, not talented enough, etc.). Trust me on this, I was in your position before.
Who is this for? What kind of person will benefit from your mentorship?
This mentorship is useful for young professionals/college graduates who have a passion for film editing and want to make a career out of it.
What if I’m already in the Hollywood editing industry as a Post-PA or Assistant Editor? Will your phone sessions help me?
Of course it will help you. We will assess where you are in your career and help you pivot so that you maximize your efforts in becoming a Hollywood Editor. I love helping Post-PAs or Assistant Editors career map because I know you have extremely specific questions that only someone in the editing field can answer. You need a soundboard for career decisions, I got you.
I’m still in college or high school, can I still schedule an appointment?
Absolutely - I highly recommend it. You actually have the most advantage out of everyone because you have time. With my mentorship, I will help you focus on your roadmap, skills you need to learn, and things I wish I did in college that could’ve helped me in the beginning of my career. So when you graduate/enter the real world, you know what to do. If you’re under 18, a parent/guardian must fill out the appointment and be present with the student on the call.
I’m a parent and my son/daughter is interested in pursuing film editing, can I schedule an appointment for advice?
Absolutely. I know that being a parent to a child who wants to pursue a creative job in the entertainment industry can be difficult to get on board with. I’m not here to persuade you one way or the other, rather I’d like to give you an honest look on how I manage my freelance career & the ups and downs I experience. I will also share tips on cultivating (but also testing) your child’s interest in editing to see if they really want to pursue it. All proactive things you can do so that you feel confident that your child can be successful and land an editing job in the future.
I can’t afford your 1-on-1 video/phone sessions, is there an alternative way to get your help?
Yes. I have a Youtube Channel, Ask The Fonz, that you should subscribe to. And you can follow me (@askthefonz) on my Blog, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter as well. Ask questions on my videos or posts and I can help you there. However, chatting with me on zoom or speaking to me on the phone is the fastest and best way to get my help.
What makes you standout from other Hollywood Editors?
Academy Award-Winning Editor, Richard Halsey, ACE engraved this lesson into me after working with him for 2 years, “Invest in people that give: that give advice, share what they know, and help you become a better person. Because in turn, it will be part of your nature to do the same.” My hope is to lead the professional editing community to become full of giving people. For you to take what I teach and eventually become a generous mentor to another artist. I standout because I give. Period.
